Their insurance company which they switched to 1 year before the storm denied coverage for the full replacement of their siding and gutters due to the age of the property and a metal exclusion in their policy. They also hoped to replace their metal roof with shingles, but that request was denied as well.

With both homeowners retired, the cost of replacing these essential exterior components is more than they can comfortably afford. A new roof would provide Steve and his wife with greater protection, security, and peace of mind while helping them maintain the home they have worked hard for.

Arlene has spent her life dedicated to faith, family, and serving others. Alongside her husband Doug, she built a life centered on kindness, generosity, and community. Together, they raised their family, volunteered, stayed active in their church, and cherished time with their seven grandchildren.

After 56 years of marriage, Arlene lost her husband in 2025 following an unexpected accident. Doug was known for his ability to connect with everyone he met and left a lasting impact on his students, friends, and community. Arlene continues to carry on their shared legacy of compassion and service.

After years of Kansas weather, Arlene’s roof is now in need of replacement. While she has always taken pride in caring for her home, this repair has become a significant burden during this new chapter of her life.

A new roof would provide Arlene with security, comfort, and peace of mind. After a lifetime of giving to others, this would be a meaningful way for the community to give back to someone who has always put others first.

I am nominating myself for a new roof. My name is LaMeeka. After the loss of my only child in 2020 due to a car accident, I relocated to a new residence roughly a year later; I purchased my 1st home! At the very beginning of my loss, my mom & my sister (a single stay at home mom) with her small children, uprooted their lives to move in with me to be by my side for support. However, within the past year, my mom's health has significantly declined whereas she is now no longer able to work & is now disabled with neuropathy & no longer able to walk. The change in our circumstances has definitely affected the household financially, especially since I am now primarily responsible for all of the bills & any household repairs that may arise.

I am working, but also living pay check to pay check to provide for my family. In addition to other household repairs that are needed, a new roof is definitely on that list. I am now trying my best to figure out how to fit that into my current budget. I've researched assistance & other resources online, yet nothing looks hopeful. After a tumultuous & tramatic past few years, any miracle of relief would help TREMENDOUSLY! I'm doing the best that I can with the current resources at hand to provide for my family, all while still grieving. Any assistance/support of any kind would be greatly appreciated. Michelle S. has dedicated her life to caring for others. As an Autism Specialist and full-time caregiver, Michelle supports her family while navigating unimaginable challenges. She is the sole provider for a household that includes three disabled family members: her husband, who is disabled due to a knee injury; her 20-year-old daughter, who is recovering from a severe traumatic brain injury after a head-on collision with a semi-truck; and her 11-year-old son, who has profound autism and requires 24-hour care.

Michelle’s historic property, built in the late 1800s and once serving as the town’s first parsonage, has endured years of harsh weather. After multiple severe hailstorms, including a recent storm with baseball-sized hail, the aging roof has begun showing signs of damage. Michelle has found shingles in the yard and is aware of leaks that occur during storms.

With limited resources and the inability to afford homeowners insurance due to her family’s circumstances, a new roof would provide Michelle and her family with the protection, safety, and peace of mind they deserve.

Mary Lu G. has spent her life serving others with compassion and dedication. As the chaplain for the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1019 in Aroma Park and an active member of the women's F Troop honor guard, she has devoted countless hours to supporting veterans and her community. She is also a proud mother of three and a loving grandmother to eight.

Now, Mary Lou is facing the greatest challenge of her life. After losing her job when her employer closed in 2025, she was later diagnosed with stage IV cervical cancer, which has spread to other parts of her body. Unable to work and facing mounting financial hardships, she is focused on her health while doing her best to make ends meet.

As she continues her fight against cancer, the condition of her home has become another source of stress. Her roof has needed replacement for some time, but the cost is beyond her reach during this difficult chapter. A new roof would provide Mary Lou with the safety, comfort, and peace of mind she deserves.
