Almamy K.
Clarksville, TN
This homeowner is a retired 20-year Army Veteran living in Clarksville, an area frequently affected by severe storms. His 30-year-old roof has sustained major damage, including two large holes covered with tarps, many missing shingles, brittle shingles, and soft decking. The roof's penetrations also need sealing, and the situation is becoming increasingly dire.
Despite the extensive damage, State Farm only approved a small repair, but matching shingles are no longer available, leaving the roof in a precarious state. As a single parent of an 11-year-old daughter, this veteran is working full-time to provide for his family, but the cost of a total roof replacement is beyond his means. The home was hit by an EF 3 tornado in December 2023, and with Clarksville being in a storm-prone area, replacing the roof before the next storm is crucial.
This veteran now faces an impossible choice between repairing his roof and fixing his car, which was also damaged by the storm, with the airbag deployed. He shouldn’t have to choose between a safe home and reliable transportation. A new roof would provide much-needed security for him and his daughter, ensuring their home is protected during future storms. This brave veteran, who has served our country for 20 years, truly deserves this support.
Calvary Baptist Church
Wartburg, TN
Calvary Baptist Church is a cornerstone of its community, offering a wide range of services to those in need. The church operates a bus ministry to ensure everyone has access to services and hosts a vibrant children's ministry called Crossroads, where kids enjoy meals, crafts, and Bible classes on Wednesday evenings. Additionally, Calvary Baptist supports the Kairos prison ministry by hosting volunteers twice a year and assists struggling families with food, rent, or utility bills. The church also extends its outreach by holding services at the local Life Care Center every fifth Sunday. However, their 20+ year-old roof is in need of replacement, and providing a new roof would help this church continue its valuable work.
Carolyn P.
Smithville, TN
Carolyn, a 76-year-old caretaker, continues to work tirelessly, even in her golden years. After renting her home for nearly 20 years, she was finally able to purchase it a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, the previous owner’s quick and cheap roof repair has led to ongoing issues, with her neighbors often stepping in to help secure loose shingles. Despite these challenges, Carolyn remains committed to helping others, always offering a hand to those in need. As she approaches her 78th birthday in August, a new roof would be a much-needed and well-deserved gift for someone who has spent her life caring for others.
Clara H.
Decatur, GA
Clara, a senior citizen on a fixed income, has been a pillar of her community for over 80 years. She has always welcomed and cared for neighborhood kids, providing them with mentoring and a supportive adult figure in their lives. Despite her generosity and longstanding community involvement, Clara is facing a difficult situation. Her aging roof has only been partially repaired by insurance, which is now threatening to cancel her coverage due to the roof's condition. With no means to afford a full replacement, Clara is at risk of losing her insurance entirely. Clara deserves a new roof through the Covers4Others program, allowing her to maintain her home and continue her legacy of caring for others.
David M.
Marietta, GA
David H. Murdock, a 74-year-old resident of Marietta, Georgia, is a kind and sensitive individual who has always sought to give back to his community despite his own challenges. A quiet and introverted man, David has volunteered to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and has also dedicated time to working at the local public library. However, life has not been easy for David. He is disabled and has struggled with mental, physical, emotional, and financial issues, particularly since losing his wife to lung cancer.
Recently, David underwent two serious heart procedures, which have taken a toll on his health. During this challenging time, his roof began leaking, revealing that the "30-year" roof he purchased 15 years ago was improperly installed. The original installers have since disappeared, leaving David with a failing roof that is not covered by warranties or insurance. The cost of a new roof would consume 62% to 87% of his limited yearly income, a burden he cannot bear alongside his living, medical, and prescription expenses.
A new roof would significantly ease David's stress and improve his mental, physical, emotional, and financial well-being. He would deeply appreciate the gift of a secure, properly installed roof, allowing him to focus on his recovery and continue contributing to his community.
Earl L.
Lenior City, TN
Mr. Earl Lauderdale is a remarkable 90-year-old retired man living in Lenoir City, where he continues to care for his wife, Caroline. Together, they have cherished their beautiful older home for many years. However, as time has passed, they have been unable to keep up with the necessary maintenance, particularly on their roof, and it’s beginning to show significant issues. Despite their best efforts, the challenges of maintaining their home have become overwhelming.
Mr. Lauderdale and his wife have given so much to their community and now deserve a little help in return. Providing them with a new roof would allow them to continue enjoying their beloved home without the worry of further deterioration. Let’s help Earl and Caroline preserve the beauty and safety of their home for many more years to come!
Frank F.
Athens, TN
The individual in question has been struggling with a severe financial setback that has left them unable to maintain or repair their deteriorating roof. The roof's condition has worsened to the point where it has become a significant financial burden, especially given their fixed income. In a desperate attempt to prevent further damage, they have covered the entire roof with tarps, but this is only a temporary fix for a much larger, long-term problem.
Despite their best efforts to secure a grant from local resources, these attempts have been unsuccessful. As you may know, grants are limited and highly competitive, leaving this homeowner with few options. By supporting this individual through the Covers 4 Others program, you would be providing more than just a roof—you would be lifting a heavy burden off their shoulders and giving them the security and peace of mind that comes with having a solid roof over their head once again.
Hunter C.
Lenoir City, TN
Hunter is a dedicated single dad, raising two children full-time on his own. He works hard every day to provide for his family, without any extra support. Despite the challenges he faces, Hunter remains committed to giving his children the best life he can. However, his home is in need of a new roof, and the cost of this essential repair is beyond his reach. Hunter truly deserves some help with this, as a new roof would provide much-needed security and stability for him and his children. Supporting him with this new roof would make a significant difference in their lives.
Jimmy H.
Knoxville, TN
Jimmy, a 75-year-old Vietnam veteran, has always been the kind of person who puts others first. In his younger years, he was known for fixing things around the neighborhood, never accepting payment, simply because he enjoyed helping others. However, as he's gotten older, his health has declined, making it difficult for him to maintain his home as he once did. Jimmy is currently living on a limited income from social security, and with the need for double knee replacement surgery and other medical issues, he’s unable to work or take care of the repairs himself.
His small 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom home, around 800 square feet, has a roof that’s leaking in the kitchen. In the past, Jimmy would have fixed this issue as soon as he noticed it, but his age and health prevent him from doing so now. A new roof would be a fitting way to give back to someone who has spent his life helping others, and I can't think of anyone more deserving than Jimmy to receive this much-needed support.
Juanita O.
Knoxville, TN
My mother, Juanita, was born in 1936 and is a widow living on a fixed income from social security. Her home is in need of many repairs, with a new roof being the most urgent. Despite her limited resources, Juanita remains an active member of her church and is deeply involved in missionary work. She also dedicates her time to helping with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always putting others before herself.
As a widow myself, raising my grandson, I wish I could do more to help her, but my own financial situation makes it impossible. Juanita has spent her life giving to others, and now she truly deserves some help in return. A new roof would not only provide her with the security and safety she needs but also allow her to continue her selfless work within the community and her family. Your consideration for her would mean the world to us.
Julie F.
Live Oak, FL
A family in Live Oak, Florida, has been deeply impacted by the hurricane that struck in August 2023. The roof of their home has been leaking ever since, and with small children in the house, the situation has become dire as mold has begun to grow. This single mom, who recently moved to the area with her two kids to start fresh in the country, is now facing a crisis.
To make matters even more challenging, her father, who suffers from dementia, has recently moved in with them. Despite running a small cleaning business and working hard to provide for her family, she is struggling to manage the mounting expenses. The roof damage, caused by multiple fallen branches, is beyond repair, according to the estimates she has received. Unfortunately, without insurance, the cost of replacing the roof is around $15,000, which is far beyond her means, especially with student loans and the costs of finishing school.
This family desperately needs a new roof to ensure their home is safe and habitable. The mother’s dedication to her family, despite the numerous challenges she faces, makes her truly deserving of this assistance. A new roof would provide the stability and security they need to continue their fresh start in the country.
Julio D.
Clarksville, TN
This homeowner is an 8-year U.S. Army veteran, a dedicated father of two, and a proud grandfather of four. Unfortunately, his roof was severely damaged by a hailstorm in May. When he filed a claim with his insurance company, it was denied due to a previous claim filed a couple of years ago. Although the insurance paid to replace the roof at that time, the homeowner had an Actual Cash Value (ACV) policy, which didn’t provide enough funds to cover the full cost of replacement. As a result, he was only able to make repairs with the limited amount he received.
Now, with the roof severely damaged again and insufficient resources to replace it, this veteran faces a challenging situation. Despite his struggles, he remains connected within his community and has the potential to refer many future customers to Aspen. He has served his country, and now he could use some support in return. A new roof would not only provide much-needed relief for him and his family but also ensure that his home remains safe and secure for the future.
Kimberly & Jeremy B.
Gadsden, AL
I am nominating my husband and myself for a free roof because we find ourselves in a difficult situation. We recently purchased a new home, but unfortunately, it was not well taken care of by the previous owners. There are several leaks in the roof, and the ceiling will need to be repaired in multiple rooms due to the water damage.
We have spent almost every penny we had on buying this home, and now we’re at a breaking point. We simply don’t have the funds to replace the roof, so we’ve resorted to putting tarps over it until we can save enough money for a down payment. Unfortunately, due to our lack of credit, we’ve been denied by regular roofing companies and even by a program through our local Alabama power company that we hoped could help.
To make matters more stressful, we had to use the money we had set aside for the roof to cover the deductible for my husband’s upcoming surgery. This has left us feeling overwhelmed and hopeless. I know there are many deserving entries for this opportunity, and I’m incredibly grateful for the chance to try and win a new roof.
Being able to surprise my husband with this would be a huge relief, taking away some of the worry and stress he’s been carrying. Thank you so much for considering us; it would mean the world to us to receive this help.

Live Oak, FL
This nominee is a veteran who has recently experienced the devastating loss of his roof due to a fire. Despite his service to our country, he has received no assistance in rebuilding or repairing his home. The situation has left him in a dire state, without the basic security and shelter that a home should provide. As a veteran who has given so much, he deserves support during this difficult time. A new roof would be a vital step in helping him rebuild his life and regain the stability he needs. Your consideration for this deserving veteran would make a profound difference.
