MOUNTAIN VOTING
Jeffery R.
Colorado Springs, CO
This nominee is a hardworking individual who spent 35-40 years running a printing press and operating large commercial machinery, while also raising a family. The house he currently lives in is the very home he grew up in, his parents’ house. Since retiring, he has faced significant difficulties, and despite his years of dedicated work, he has had to return to the workforce as a laborer for a temp service, living paycheck to paycheck.
His roof is in such poor condition that he’s been forced to place a tarp over the main part of the house to try to keep out the weather. With winter approaching, he’s facing the daunting task of patching the roof himself, as his insurance company has canceled his policy until the roof is replaced. To make ends meet, his son has even had to move in to help with expenses.
Despite these challenges, he continues to work tirelessly, including on the job site where I met him. He is in urgent need of a new roof to protect his home and maintain the insurance coverage he desperately needs. Providing him with this assistance would greatly ease the burden on him and his family, ensuring that they can weather the upcoming winter safely and securely.
Tasha C.
Thornton, CO
Tasha is one of the most selfless and resilient people you could ever meet. Diagnosed with cancer at just 19, she has faced more than her share of life’s challenges. Over the past decade, Tasha has tragically lost her mother, her brother, and most recently, her father. Despite these heart-wrenching losses, Tasha remains strong, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Blessed with a miracle baby—something doctors said would be nearly impossible due to her cancer—Tasha and her fiancé David recently purchased their first home together. In addition to their own child, they are also raising Tasha’s niece, the daughter of her late brother. But just weeks after moving into their new home, they were hit by a severe hailstorm that caused significant damage to their roof. To make matters worse, they discovered that their insurance policy is an Actual Cash Value (ACV) policy with a $6,000 deductible, leaving them with a large financial burden that they are struggling to manage.
Tasha is someone who gives everything she has, even when she has nothing left. She’s always there for others, no matter what she’s going through. Now, after suffering the loss of her father, she faces the daunting task of repairing her home’s damaged roof, all while trying to grieve and take care of her family.
This should be the last thing on Tasha's mind as she navigates these incredibly difficult times. By helping Tasha and her family with a new roof, we can show her that it’s okay to not be superwoman all the time—that there are people who care and want to give back to someone who has given so much. Tasha and her family truly deserve this support, and together, we can help ease their burden and show them that everything will be okay.
