Adrian M Howard- Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church
Kansas City, MO
Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church has been a pillar of faith and service in its community for generations. The church is made up of two historic buildings — one over 100 years old and the other nearing that milestone — connected by a shared roof that now urgently needs replacement. This 12,000-square-foot roof has seen multiple repairs over the years, but it continues to leak, threatening the integrity of both buildings and the safety of the people inside.
As an older church, Rising Star has served countless families, hosted community events, and provided a spiritual home for many. From food drives to youth mentorship, the church continues to be a beacon of hope for those in need. However, the burden of a failing roof is now too great for the congregation to bear on its own.
The building isn’t just a place of worship — it’s a cornerstone of the neighborhood, filled with history, faith, and love. A new roof would help preserve that legacy, allowing Rising Star to continue serving its community for generations to come.
By supporting this nomination, you're not just helping to repair a building — you're helping to protect a vital part of the community’s heart.

Andrew F.
Imperial, MO
Andrew F. is the kind of person who shows up for his family, his friends, and his responsibilities. He works two jobs, helps care for loved ones, and still finds time to be a supportive husband to his wife, Aly.
Recently, Andrew and Aly celebrated a major milestone: purchasing their first home. With their dog Winston by their side, they were excited to start their life together. But earlier this year, their home was hit hard by a storm, and now their roof is in urgent need of replacement.
Even while working full-time (and then some), the cost of roof repair is overwhelming. Andrew and Aly are navigating life, marriage, and careers. A new roof would provide a safe, lasting foundation to build their future.

Christine M.
Jefferson City, MO
Christine is a hardworking dog groomer who turned her passion into a small home-based business. After saving diligently, she was finally able to purchase her first home—an incredible milestone. But that dream has come with challenges: her roof and garage are in desperate need of repair.
Despite living with Lupus, Christine continues to serve her clients with dedication, warmth, and a smile. She works through daily pain, never missing a chance to care for the pets in her community—many of whom she knows by name. A true animal lover, Christine has also rescued three dogs of her own, offering them the love and safety they deserve.
She is not just a groomer; she is a trusted friend to countless families and a beloved member of the community. Her story is one of perseverance, passion, and compassion. But on a limited income, the cost of a new roof is out of reach.
A new roof would not only protect her home and business—it would ensure a safe space for her beloved rescues and clients. Your vote can help lift a burden off Christine’s shoulders and provide some well-deserved peace of mind.
Let’s rally behind someone who always puts others first.

Dean F.
Akron, MO
Dean has been disabled since 2000, when a devastating car accident left him with a spinal injury that ended his career as an electrician. Despite his own physical limitations, Dean has remained incredibly active in his community, using his hands-on skills to help others with roof repairs, plumbing, and general home maintenance—often traveling far distances to lend a hand, including a trip all the way to Georgia to help rebuild a home.
Though he can no longer work due to his injury, Dean finds purpose in supporting those around him whenever possible. His wife Angela, a devoted and hardworking woman, works full-time to support them both. However, the cost of repairing their own roof has become an overwhelming challenge.
After years of giving back, Dean and Angela now find themselves in need of a helping hand. A new roof would mean peace of mind, safety, and a well-deserved reminder that the kindness Dean has poured into others hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Gerald E.
Kansas City, MO
Gerald is a 72-year-old grandfather who has taken full custody of his 10-year-old granddaughter after her mother tragically died from a fentanyl overdose. Her father is currently incarcerated, so Gerald is her sole caregiver and protector.
Gerald’s life has been marked by hardship. In a serious car accident, he suffered multiple fractures and a concussion, leading to hip replacement surgery and extended periods in a wheelchair. These injuries have made it impossible for him to work.
Despite his physical challenges, Gerald has worked tirelessly to provide a safe and stable home for his granddaughter. But now their roof urgently needs replacing, and Gerald cannot afford the repairs on his limited income.
A new roof would not only protect their home—it would bring peace of mind and security to a family overcoming tremendous obstacles.

Heather Meyer-P. & Aaron P.
Lee's Summit, MO
Heather and Aron just celebrated a huge milestone—getting married in May on their 11th anniversary. But behind the smiles and vows, they’re facing tough challenges. Their home has significant roof damage from hail and leaking skylights, and the gutters are failing. That alone is a lot—but it’s compounded by the urgent need for $25,000 in foundation repairs. No foundation, no roof. And no roof means even more interior damage.
Last year, they had to postpone their wedding due to Heather’s emergency spinal surgery. Now, they’re dealing with more medical uncertainty. Heather is undergoing extensive imaging—MRIs, CT scans, and more—for a concerning lump in her neck. The bills are piling up despite her working extra shifts to stay afloat.
Through it all, they’ve faced each obstacle together. This roof wouldn’t just ease a financial burden—it would offer hope and relief during a very uncertain time.

Jada M.
Kansas City, MO
At just 23 years old, Jada became the first person in her family to purchase a home. A dream she made possible through hard work, sacrifice, and determination. She once had to leave a pre-med college program because tuition was out of reach, and instead, she took on the responsibility of paying off $11,000 in student debt by herself.
Now, she faces a new challenge: maintaining a home with a roof that’s leaking and uninsurable due to age. With no financial safety net or outside help, Jada still refuses to give up. She continues working tirelessly to keep her dream alive and provide for herself, all while inspiring those around her with her strength and positivity.
A new roof wouldn’t just protect her house , it would reinforce the foundation she’s been building for years. It would give her a chance to focus on her future instead of worrying about repairs. Her perseverance and grit make her a strong candidate for the Covers 4 Others program, and we’re proud to share her story.

Janet & Scott R.
Osage Beach, MO
Janet and Scott have spent their lives caring for others. Janet, a retired school staff member, was known for creating a safe haven for students in crisis. Many of those students still call her "mom" to this day. Scott, sober for over 20 years, has dedicated himself to helping others through AA, often welcoming people into their home as they worked to rebuild their lives.
Their generosity didn’t stop there. In 2018, they adopted two young girls with high-functioning autism—Serenity and Abby—who are the daughters of their own daughter Anna’s former partner. Janet and Scott, now proud grandparents and full-time caregivers, provide the girls with a loving and stable home. But their roof is in need of critical repairs, and on a fixed retirement income, it’s become impossible to afford. After a lifetime of lifting others up, Janet and Scott now need a little help themselves. A new roof would mean a safe and secure home for this remarkable, giving family.

Janet and Terry M.
Kansas City, MO
Janet and Terry are the heart of a big, loving family—parents to three children and proud grandparents to five. Although retired, Janet’s strong work ethic hasn’t faded; with recent challenges making home repairs unaffordable, she's even willing to rejoin the workforce to help make ends meet. Known for her dedication to customer service, Janet has always gone above and beyond to support others. Terry stands by her side as they face the difficulty of needing a new roof—something their budget simply can’t stretch to cover. Despite financial strain, their spirit remains positive, and their love for their growing family is clear. Covers 4 Others is proud to highlight families like Janet and Terry’s—people who’ve spent their lives building strong foundations for others and now deserve a secure roof over their own.

John R.
Council Bluffs, MO
John retired early due to cancer and ongoing serious health issues that continue to impact his daily life. On top of his medical struggles, John has been unable to secure homeowners insurance because of the deteriorating condition of his roof.
Without the funds to cover a full roof replacement, he faces not only the stress of managing his health but also the worry of a vulnerable home. After a lifetime of working hard and now facing some of the toughest battles of his life, John is in need of support.
A new roof would provide security and peace of mind—two things John could truly use during this difficult time.

Karen T.
St Charles, MO
Karen T. was nominated by her daughter, who hopes to see her mother finally get the help she deserves.
Karen is a mother of two and a loving, quiet presence in her community. She’s an older woman living on a fixed income and cannot afford to replace her deteriorating roof.
It's clear is that Karen needs support. A new roof would lift a huge burden and give her the peace of mind that her home is safe and protected.

Kenneth B.
Broken Bow, OK
Kenneth purchased his grandmother’s home with the hope of fixing it up so she could return to the place she’s loved for decades. Now 86 and living with dementia, she often expresses the desire to be back in her longtime home. Unfortunately, the house was left in poor condition and needs major repairs—especially a new roof, which has never been replaced.
Kenneth’s vision is to restore the home with help from family and a home health nurse, creating a safe and comfortable space where his grandmother can feel at peace. However, as he's on a limited income and the cost of a new roof is significant, this goal has been difficult to achieve.
Receiving a new roof would be a huge step toward bringing her home again. Kenneth, described by loved ones as a selfless and God-fearing man, has given so much to those around him. This is a chance to give something meaningful back.

Kevin B.
Arkansas City, KS
Kevin B. is a man of his word and of big dreams. Since the day he married his wife, he promised her one special gift: an art gallery of her own. After years of hard work and determination, that dream finally came true. Just this past year, they purchased a beautiful old church, transforming it into a shared space where creativity and history meet. One half is now his wife’s personal art gallery, a place to proudly display her artwork. The other half is Kevin’s man cave, filled with meaningful historic memorabilia he’s collected over the years.
But shortly after achieving this long-held dream, their joy was disrupted. A severe hailstorm struck their part of town, causing damage to the roof of the old church. With only liability insurance, the cost of repairs has become a challenge, especially with several sections already leaking and needing immediate attention.
Kevin and his wife have poured their hearts into creating a space that reflects both of their passions — art, history, and love. Helping them protect and preserve this space would not only honor their dedication to one another, but also ensure that this meaningful building continues to serve as a symbol of creativity and care for years to come.

Linda M.
Barnard, KS
Linda has spent her life taking care of others, as a dedicated mother of three, a hard worker, and someone her community can rely on. She currently works in a nursing home, where she gives everything she can to help others feel cared for and comfortable. But when it comes to caring for her own home, especially her roof, resources have run out.
Her roof has been leaking since 2021, and for years she’s done her best to patch it, but the situation is no longer manageable. Linda has reached out to local organizations and banks for support, only to be denied due to tight financial qualifications either making too much to qualify for aid or not enough to secure financing.
Now older, Linda continues working, but the future feels uncertain. She deserves a break, not just from the stress of home repairs, but from the uphill battle of doing everything on her own. A new roof would mean peace of mind, safety, and the opportunity to finally rest knowing her home is secure. Her dedication, selflessness, and resilience make her incredibly deserving of this opportunity.

Linda Z H.
Salina, KS
At 78 years old, Linda has spent a lifetime giving everything she has to others. Nominated by her boyfriend Terry, Linda is the proud mother of seven sons—some adopted, all loved unconditionally. She raised them on her own without the support of her ex-husband, working tirelessly since the age of 13 to provide for her family. From early mornings to late nights, Linda never complained—she just did what needed to be done. Her dedication and strength have left a lasting impact on everyone around her, especially the many boys who are proud to call her “Mom.” Terry describes her as incredibly hard-working and deeply deserving of support. After a lifetime of helping others, Linda now needs a little help herself—with a roof that can keep her safe and dry in her well-earned retirement.

In recent years, both have faced serious health challenges: cancer, heart disease, and the emotional weight of supporting their family through difficult times. Meanwhile, their roof has begun leaking into their living space, and rising medical costs have left no room for repairs.
As finalists last year, Nan and Tim remain incredibly grateful for the support they've received from their community. A new roof would mean safety, security, and a continued place for love and healing.

Pamela M.
Collinsville,IL
Pamela M. is a mother of five whose home has long been a place of love, community, and care. Her doors are always open, and her house has served as a refuge for friends and family during tough times.
Though she had her roof replaced over 10 years ago, time and wear have taken a toll. Today, she’s facing serious health concerns and is scheduled for three surgeries. With her current roof leaking, it’s become nearly impossible to find a provider willing to insure her home.
Pamela is deeply loved by her community, and this opportunity would not only protect her home, but bring peace and security to someone who’s given so much to others.

Sacred Mission Missionary Baptist Church
Kansas City, MO
For over 64 years, Sacred Mission Missionary Baptist Church has been a cornerstone of its community in the inner city. But in recent years, a leaking roof has caused major issues, especially during spring and summer rains.
When storms hit, the church floods inside. Pastor JB Hunter Jr. has had to personally vacuum up water, sanitize the space, and cancel services just to make it safe again. The process takes days, and the damage continues to grow.
The church has been a refuge, a spiritual home, and a source of strength for many. A new roof would not only stop the flooding, but allow the church to continue serving the faith community without interruption.
This congregation is praying for a blessing, and this opportunity could be just that.

Shannon Y.
Independence, MO
Shannon Y. has poured her heart into saving a 150-year-old farmhouse from being torn down, a piece of history she’s lovingly restored and called home. But after an extremely poor roofing job left the structure vulnerable once again, Shannon finds herself in a tough spot with no support from the company that did the work.
When her roof first began to fail, Shannon turned to a local roofing contractor, hoping to fix a major leak. What followed was a months-long ordeal ending in a rushed winter installation, done in freezing temperatures that compromised the quality of the work. Not long after, shingles began peeling off and buckling. Multiple reputable roofing professionals have since inspected the roof and confirmed what Shannon feared: it was not done properly, and the damage is getting worse.
Despite repeated attempts to get help under warranty, the original contractor has stopped responding. Shannon, a retired homeowner with limited resources, has exhausted every official channel from consumer protection offices to legal help - with no success.
At Covers 4 Others, we recognize the heartbreak of doing everything right and still being left behind. Shannon’s story is about more than just a roof, it’s about protecting a home she’s fought to preserve. She’s kept history alive for over a century; now it’s time for you to step in to help protect it for the future.

Shelby & Ivan N.
Fenton, MO
Shelby and Ivan Nobles are devoted parents doing everything they can to care for their two young children, both of whom have Down syndrome. One of their children is also on the autism spectrum, requiring additional care, therapies, and frequent medical appointments.
Last summer, their family faced a significant setback when their regular caregiver unexpectedly stopped showing up. With no other options, Shelby had to leave her job to become a full-time caregiver. Meanwhile, Ivan works long hours as a carpenter, taking on overtime whenever possible to make ends meet. Still, the cost of specialized caregiving is overwhelming—up to $75 an hour—while the assistance they qualify for covers only a small portion.
With so much of their income going toward their children’s care, the Nobles have had to make difficult financial decisions. Recently, storms damaged their roof, which is over 15 years old and already showing signs of serious wear. Even with potential insurance coverage, the deductible and repair costs are more than they can afford right now.
This resilient and hardworking family continues to give everything they have for their children’s well-being. A new roof would be one less worry—and a big step toward providing their kids with a safe, secure home.

Shellah B.
Kansas City, MO
Shellah and her family are in urgent need of a new roof. Living on a limited income with no available resources for repairs, they’re facing constant stress and uncertainty as their roof continues to deteriorate.
Despite their challenges, Shellah remains focused on caring for her loved ones and keeping her household together. But the condition of their roof is becoming a serious threat to their safety and stability. Every storm brings new leaks and new worries.
A new roof would be life-changing for Shellah’s family. It would mean relief from the daily fear of water damage, mold, and further deterioration. More importantly, it would bring peace of mind—knowing their home is finally secure.

Taylor V.
Robinson, IL
Taylor is a devoted mother of five who, alongside her husband, is doing everything she can to provide a safe and stable home for their family. Recently, the home they were renting-to-own was unexpectedly signed over to them by the landlord, who no longer wanted responsibility for the property or its many needed repairs—including a roof in serious disrepair.
While this transition was a blessing in many ways, it came with a heavy burden. The roof desperately needs replacement, not just for comfort, but for the safety and well-being of their children. Taylor and her husband have been working tirelessly to make ends meet and take care of the home, but unexpected medical issues have caused major setbacks. Taylor recently required surgery, and the necessary time off from work has placed an even greater strain on their finances.
A new roof would lift a major weight off this family's shoulders. It would offer peace of mind, allowing them to focus on healing, raising their children, and building a future in the home they now call their own. Receiving this support would be more than a repair—it would be a sign of hope and closure during a challenging season of life.

She and Augustine have served as leaders in their parish, participating in advisory and finance councils, organizing fundraisers, and launching their church’s largest annual festival celebrating food, music, and culture. But the last few years have brought challenges. Augustine was laid off after 16 years on the job, just before the pandemic.
